This Toltec eagle was carved in andesite, a volcanic rock, sometime between the 10th-13th centuries in Mexico. The eagle was a common symbol in Mesoamerican cultures, and this representation was found in Tula, Hidalgo. For this Mexican-American man it serves a link to the land of his ancestors.
