Serenity Knot saves the arm

There is hope even for those who got tattooed in the 1990's with dense black "tribal" tattoos. Four years ago I did some Celtic bands on this lad, and today he came back to transform his tribal blob.............. into Celtic Art.

Pictish Geometric Arch Backpiece Tattoo

Two styles of Pictish geometric tribal tattooing are combined in a balanced piece for the upper back. One side is a traditional angular spiral keymorphic pattern, similar to the Greek key. The other side is Celtic double and triple spirals. Together they form a strikingly bold tribal arch to span the upper body.

The Raven Guides of Odin

A man who follows the path of the Old Religion asked for this custom combination of Odinist and Celtic images. The two ravens of Odin, Hugin and Munin, represent Thought and Memory. He felt he needed to be reminded to THINK, so we have the front raven in full caw, telling him to "Be alert!" Memory appears more contemplative. They are bracketed below by the Horns of Odin symbol, and above by a Celtic triquetra. In this way we combined elements of his heritage and beliefs into an ambitious first tattoo.
