Celtic Shin Guard Tattoo

Today saw the completion of this new Celtic knot work leg wrap tattoo, forming the look of a shin guard known as a greave in medieval armor. It began with one knot, taken from an Irish high cross gravestone, that was then multiplied, interwoven, and morphed to fit the leg.

Celtic 'Generations Knot' Tattoo

Today saw the creation and installation of this custom design. The central "father knot" pattern is surrounded by a looping circle of knotwork, representing for this man the generations of his Irish family who have gone before him and his own children who continue that line.

Dymaxion Map Tattoo

Today a world traveling professional photographer, adventurer, and international man of mystery completed this tattooed map of the continents. Now when his assignments take him to the far-flung corners of the globe he will always know where he is. We used the Dymaxion map of R. Buckminster Fuller for a unique perspective.

"The Dymaxion map or Fuller map is a projection of a world map onto the surface of an icosahedron, which can be unfolded and flattened to two dimensions. The flat map is heavily interrupted in order to preserve shapes and sizes. The map was created by Buckminster Fuller. The 1954 version published by Fuller, the Airocean World Map, used a modified but mostly regular icosahedron as the base for the projection, which is the version most commonly referred to today. This version depicts the Earth's continents as "one island," or nearly contiguous land masses."   -Wikipedia

Tribal Phoenix Tattoo

Today's tattoo is a flashback to the 1990's, when tribal ruled the tattoo world. I definitely developed my tattooing skills with those black graphic patterns. This woman's request was for a phoenix, but no low-rider flames, so I drew the body to mimic the movement of a flame, ribboning in flight.
