'Warrior Bear Sleeve' Celtic Tattoo

Today a military man with an affinity for bears requested this custom half sleeve, combining a knotwork bear with a Spartan helmet with a cross, within a Celtic knot matrix. The greatest challenge for a tattoo artist is to work to create a visual representation of the concepts of clients, creating for them a special meaningful embellishment that, in this case, is a shield and badge of honor.

Clan Scott Badge Tattoo

Today I was pleased to place this Scott Clan badge on a member of our nation's military. Always a pleasure to give a person of Scottish descent this link to their ethnic heritage, and how lucky for him that the heraldic animal is the mighty stag of the red deer, Lord of the Forest.

Book of Kells Knot Coverup Tattoo

Today a Scotswoman who once was quite enthusiastic about her clan badge tattoo decided that it hadn't aged well. In fact, it was warped. So we took a knot from the folio 5 recto page in the 8th c. Book of Kells illuminated manuscript and obliterated the badge. A nice upgrade, and now a new bright spot of color.

Butterfly Swoosh Tattoo

Today a woman came back who thought her butterfly from earlier this year looked lonely. We added a swoosh of Celtic knotwork swirling on her leg, taking the picture of the bug and making it more sculptural, so now anyone who wants to admire her whole tattoo has to do the bee "waggle dance" and look from side to side... amusing her!
