Breast Cancer Scars Transformation

A breast cancer survivor from Iowa asked a tattooist in Virginia to cover her implant scars with Celtic patterns but was dissatisfied with the result. So she came to me and yesterday we added new symbols to celebrate her survival, and give her strength. We added a luna moth, maidenhair fern, California poppies, a red tail hawk feather, the Newgrange triple spiral, and more spirals to fill. In the Fall she will return and we will color it all and make a tapestry.

Saint George

Today is the feast day of England’s patron Saint George, commemorating the anniversary of his death. Tradition holds that he was a Roman soldier who was tortured and decapitated under Diocletian’s persecution of Christians in 303. During the Middle Ages he became an ideal of martial valour and selflessness. He is usually depicted as a knight in a crimson cape on a magnificent horse. He is the patron saint of soldiers, and with his sword he defeats the dragon, the allegory of evil.
