A claddagh cross with a subtle change. Instead of having the heart in the hands, it has a shamrock representing the love of Irish heritage. The heart has been moved into a small inclusion within the knot work at the base of the cross. For this man that allowed him to put his children's initials in the cuffs of the loving hands, and his wife's initial in the heart, at the root of the family symbolism.
