Galway Tattoo Band with Celtic Design

This band is taken from a margin in an old book seen in a museum in Galway. The pattern has been reworked to be even and symmetrical, and works equally well as a bracelet, anklet or armband. Adding color behind the knotwork brings the weave forward, like fine jewelry in the skin.

Gaia Goddess Tattoo with Celtic Design

The traditional symbol for the Goddess Gaia, Earth in her nurturing form, is here bracketed with a vegetative detail expressing her fecundity.

Ancient Style Celtic Tree of Life Tattoo Design

This graceful vine is actually the style of the oldest representations of the "Tree of Life" concept found in the ancient manuscripts. The center is the sacred tree, and I added the sidepieces to give it an attractive shape for the lower back or arm.

Skeletal Gadsden Tattoo Design

One of my favorite political symbols is the Gadsden Flag, established in 1775 and bearing the motto "Don't Tread on Me." It was taken up by the Tea Party activists, but I had been putting stickers of it on my vehicles for many years before. In conversations with an excellent patriotic client I came up with the idea of rendering it in a skeletal form, and this tattoo is the result. We chose to encircle it with both the original text and "Nemo me impune lacessit" which is on the royal coat of arms of the Kingdom of Scotland and translates in the Scots language to: "Wha daur meddle wi me?" Many years later I had a chance to do it again, this time encircling it with a ring of Celtic knotwork.
