Celtic Monarch Butterfly Tattoo Design

Today an old grammar school pal of mine came in for a second tattoo, a commissioned concept of a Celtic monarch butterfly. She specifically asked me to retain the distinctive dots on the edges of the wings, that make a monarch so instantly recognizable. Keeping them in, I then filed the interior with a knotwork pattern.

Stone Boar Pictish Tattoo Design

The boar was always the most feared and desired prey for those seeking their sustenance in the forest. No other animal posed as much danger for the hunters and their dogs, no other was as wily and strong, a most worthy assailant.

This design is one found throughout Scotland, carved on stones by the Pictish people.
