Scythian Stag Tattoo

Today's art is inspired by historical tattoos on the Siberian "ice Maiden" from the 5th century B.C. and a mirror buried with her. I combined parts of her highly stylized animal tattoos with a sculpture of a stag on a carved wooden mirror placed in her grave, and added Pictish spirals to accentuate the movement of the hip and shoulder. The result, rendered all in dots, brings alive the ancient love of the thrill of the chase.

Another Poppy & Lupine Dedication Tattoo

This is the second time I have reproduced the flowers, both a friend and the daughter made the choice to honor her memory in this way. A touching and appropriate tribute.

Recently a woman with ambitions to become a seafaring adventurer got this Celtic compass design....... no matter where her whims may take her, she'll be right where she's supposed to be.

The Duleek knot is accented with the compass points to create a guidepost, to help modern Celts find their way Home.

'Celtic Convergence Knot' Back-Piece Tattoo

Today marked another step in the building of this back piece. Piece by piece, incorporating the older triangle on the left that I rebuilt, and the hearts that match his wife's tattoo.... and placing the large knot work in the center that will eventually be the heart of a mighty oak. Many sessions. much patience, a lot of aesthetic decision to make a whole.
