Custom Dedication 'Season Trees' Celtic Tattoo

Today a father with Celtic heritage chose this woven Tree of Life pattern that represents the seasons of the year. To dedicate the tattoo to his young daughter we placed runes for the letters of her name, coming out of the tree like the twigs that Odin took from the world tree Yggdrasil to become the runic alphabet.

"The Druids built no churches, they worshiped in the trees, and the Celts as a race paid close attention to the passing of the seasons. This balanced and harmonious wheel of trees tattoo represents the four seasons in changing foliage, making the integrated whole of the year."

Celtic 'Family Heart Tree' Tattoo

Today a loving wife and mother incorporated the traditional triquetra and heart into the knots of a Celtic Tree of Life, making one cohesive tattoo that is a medallion celebrating her connection to her family and her heritage.

Celtic 'Speyside Cross' Tattoo

Today a custom commission for this Celtic cross challenged me to create a completely connected woven knotwork, never-ending, representing the beginning and continuity of life. Like the waters of life that come from the Speyside, the epic production of the Scots. A sweet complexity for the discerning.

'Wolfhound Wheel' Celtic Tattoo

Today a man who teaches University level creative arts asked for a custom tattoo based on a design from the 8th c. Book of Kells. Since the original is only the size of a quarter and features cats, we used my redrawn Irish Wolfhound version in the traditional colors.
